Elemental sulfur is used to reduce soil pH in certain situations. (Do not try to reduce soil pH in serpentine or calcareous soils).

The particle size of the sulfur is what determines how quickly it will act in your soil.

Elemental sulfur is also used to provide sulfur. However, gypsum and Potassium sulfate are usually preferrable sources of sulfur than elemental sulfur alone.
